Why physiotherapy for dogs?
Canine physiotherapy makes sense whenever your dog is in pain or no longer moves freely and naturally.
Typical signs can be:
- Your dog is limping or not moving smoothly
- It has trouble getting up or lies down carefully
- Climbing stairs or jumping is difficult for it
- It seems stiff, especially after getting up
- After surgery it lacks strength and stability
- It moves less overall or withdraws
Physiotherapy can also help with chronic conditions such as osteoarthritis to maintain mobility and relieve pain.
The aim of treatment is to give your dog more quality of life, joy of movement and confidence in everyday life.
When canine physiotherapy makes sense:
- Degenerative conditions such as osteoarthritis or spondylosis
- Neurological disorders, e.g. after a herniated disc, cauda equina syndrome or with degenerative myelopathy
- Skeletal disorders such as hip dysplasia (HD), elbow dysplasia (ED) or osteochondrosis (OCD)
- Rehabilitation after surgery or injuries
- Muscle building & conditioning for sporting dogs, older dogs or to prevent conditions (e.g. cruciate ligament rupture, patellar luxation)
- Treatment of scars & adhesions
- Support with overweight and restricted mobility
Why chiropractic for dogs?
Chiropractic specifically targets the mobility of the joints and the spine.
It is particularly useful if your dog:
- suddenly shows restricted movement
- is reluctant to turn, jump or bend
- is sensitive to touch
- has a “stiff” or changed gait
- has developed problems after a fall or accident
- shows recurring musculoskeletal problems
The causes are often so-called blockages – small misalignments of joints that disturb natural movement and can cause pain.
Targeted, gentle impulses can release these blockages so that your dog can move more freely and relaxed again.
The goal is to restore natural mobility and bring the body back into balance.
When chiropractic can help:
- After a fall, accident or surgery
- With lameness, stiffness or reduced urge to move
- When your dog doesn’t want to jump or climb stairs anymore
- With back problems, tension or pain when getting up
- After intensive training or for sporting and working dogs
- For support in old age, to maintain mobility and joy of life
